The Sewing School
Thank you for your interest in our sewing school. Our sewing school was developed 35 years ago , and has grown and transformed over the years. With growing interest in sewing garments rather than shopping fast fashion, we have shifted focus under new ownership to embrace a more modern outlook on what new and improving home sewists are looking for. We hope to give you the confidence to sew independently and the interest to come back and learn more with our advanced classes! We continue to teach beginners, designers and artists the skills needed to sew your dreams into reality. For a current schedule, please check our calendar.
Fundamentals of Garment Sewing- Our Basic Sewing program is an 8 week course designed to start your sewing sample workbook and give you the confidence to create after leaving the classroom! Our goal is to create skills that foster a lifetime of sewing. Learn to sew from the very beginning or fine tune your skills for a professional finish with our Basics II course, or advanced focus classes and seminars that focus on specific aspects of garment finishing. Our Basics I class is our most popular series for the creative person that wants to be able to independently sew what they want and take their newfound confidence to future projects! Our Basics I course is offered 1-2 times per year. Please check the calendar for any upcoming classes, sign up for our newsletter, or give us a call to get on the wait list so we can call you when the Basics class is back on the calendar!
Advanced Focus Classes- Our Advanced Focus classes and seminars are for those who have taken the Basics course and are looking to fine tune skill sets. With a focus on one aspect of a garment, you will build samples to add to your workbook that you started in Basics I!
Fundamentals of Fitting- The course on Fitting explores drafting and measurements on the paper pattern and then completes the education by applying additional pattern edits to the cloth. This 3-D soft architectural program emphasizes what makes a proper fit and how to achieve the desired polished look in all of your garments.
Design, Fit & Sew- These classes are a great place to start after completing the Basics. In these classes you will complete wardrobe staples that are made to fit you, your style and body so that they are the most flattering garments that bring out the very best you can be.

Kids/Teens Sewing- We love fostering the love of sewing in children ages 7-17! During the school year we host both Kid's Sewing classes where they will work on predetermined projects and a Teen Sewing Studio in which they can sew, fit, and/or design their own projects. During the summer, we host summer camps for all ages, and we have special camps during Fall and Spring Break. With care and guidance, we continue to usher in the next generation of creatives!
Mastery Classes / New Owner Series - These classes were designed to teach new BERNINA owners all about their new machines. If you purchased your machine from Studio BERNINA these classes are complimentary*, with only a small kit fee for fabric and kit preparation.
*These Mastery classes are complimentary to those who have purchased a BERNINA sewing machine from Studio BERNINA. If you purchased your BERNINA machine from another dealer, please call us to ask about our adoption program.

Registration and Store Policies: You are confirmed for class only when you have paid. Full refunds will be issued if minimum enrollment is not reached and the class is cancelled. Class fees will only be refunded if class is cancelled by Studio BERNINA. Customer cancellations are non-refundable. Payments for classes by credit card will be refunded only as store credit. Please refrain from wearing perfume/cologne and all fragrances in the classroom.
