Any quilter with good basic sewing skills can come away from this class with all that they need to create a Bargello style quilt. Dawn will guide students through the process of learning about selecting fabric (color theory) for a Bargello, constructing strip sets, building vertical columns and attaching columns together into a quilt top. This class will focus each week on the skills needed to complete a quilt top. This picture is just a small part of the beautiful, large Bargello quilt made by instructor Dawn Hunter. Come visit us to see it hanging on the wall in person!
The first day of class is all about color theory and fabric selection! Bring in pieces from your stash that you are ready to use, we're happy to help you "fill in the gaps." Compare your favorite stash pieces to the fabrics on our floor to create your Bargello! Don't see what you need? No problem! Fabric shopping will happen between classes 1 & 2.
Session 1: Color Theory, Fabric Planning, and Looking at Studio BERNINA's sales floor
Session 2: Building Your Color Chart, Cutting, & Sewing Strips
Sessions 3 & 4: Sewing!
Before the end of class, you will discuss choosing and attaching borders, quilting, and binding. Finishing your quilt top before/during the last session of class is up to you - it depends on the size of quit that you choose and how much you were able to sew in between classes.
This class is limited to 6 students to ensure social distancing and the safety of all students and employees. Masks must be worn while in the classroom and on the sales floor. Need a break? No problem! We have some lovely outdoor space just outside where you can take your mask off and breathe freely. Kit Fee of $12 includes your very own copy of The Bargello Quilt Book by Piecemakers.
